Well, sort of. I spent Tuesday, May 6 running around the desert shooting a handgun. I played an FBI agent in our current project Convict. My character leads a couple of other agents on a chase to rescue the the kidnapped young man in the film from his captor, a paroled convict. It was quite the challenge as I hadn’t gotten any sleep the previous night and then had to run around wearing a hot Gore-Tex FBI windbreaker while the camera rolled and I delivered a performance that I hoped would look good in the editing room. For part of the scene I had to run, stop, aim and fire two shots and during one take I slid in the sand because I couldn’t stop, so the shell casings hit me in the forehead. I’m sure that looked great on camera.
I’m not an actor and as a guy that spends all of his time on the other side of the camera it was a lot of fun to play pretend. By the end of the day I was a sweaty, tired mess, but it was a blast playing a take-no-prisoners federal agent. The director was happy and remarked that I was badass. Fuckin’ A.
