Well, sort of. I spent Tuesday, May 6 running around the desert shooting a handgun. I played an FBI agent in our current project Convict. My character leads a couple of other agents on a chase to rescue the the kidnapped young man in the film from his captor, a paroled convict. It was quite the challenge as I hadn’t gotten any sleep the previous night and then had to run around wearing a hot Gore-Tex FBI windbreaker while the camera rolled and I delivered a performance that I hoped would look good in the editing room. For part of the scene I had to run, stop, aim and fire two shots and during one take I slid in the sand because I couldn’t stop, so the shell casings hit me in the forehead. I’m sure that looked great on camera. ;)

I’m not an actor and as a guy that spends all of his time on the other side of the camera it was a lot of fun to play pretend. By the end of the day I was a sweaty, tired mess, but it was a blast playing a take-no-prisoners federal agent. The director was happy and remarked that I was badass. Fuckin’ A.

the sweet here and now

distance to here
all the ground covered
wars and peace
moments of ecstasy
beautiful photographs in a burning gallery
revisiting happiness
screaming in the undertow
breaking the surface
stumbling drunk through love
walking headlong against the cold, ragged night
seduced by excess
changing the channel
turning the volume down
immersed in bliss
flowing freely forward
in the sweet here and now
